Following Sabbath services on May
18, 2013, the Cleveland, Ohio, con-
gregation surprised Alan and Pauline
Pachinger with a celebration dinner for
their 50th wedding anniversary. They
were married May 18, 1963, and out
of this union they were blessed with
four daughters, Julie (Ed) Mackey,
Jacqueline (William) Stetter, Janet and
Joan. They have also been blessed with
five granddaughters, Kayla, Jordanne,
Camryn, Katrina and Ava.
They were both baptized into God’s
Church in December of 1973. Alan
was ordained as an elder on the Feast
of Trumpets in 1986; and Pauline was
ordained a deaconess on Pentecost
1986. They served in the Cleveland,
Ohio, congregation for many years
prior to their ordinations, having been
the Y.O.U. coordinators for many years,
traveling to sports events and support-
ing the youth.
They purchased the family farm in
1965, where they raised beef and dairy
cattle, chickens, ducks and geese, along
with grain crops and large gardens.
They retired from farming in the late
’80s but still reside on the farm. Along
with farming, Alan worked as a welder,
plumber and pipefitter, and Pauline was
blessed to be able to be home with the
girls teaching them many life skills.
The Cleveland congregation honored
them with gifts, poems, speeches and
musical numbers to show them their
love and appreciation of all they have
done and the example they have given
to their family and church family. They
have been pillars in our family and con-
gregation, and we are very thankful for
their demonstration of love and faith.

Sarah (Towe) and Stan Hewitt met at
Eli Whitney Vocational High School
in Brooklyn, New York, in 1965 when
mutual friends used them as an alibi
in order to date each other secretly. It
actually worked out for Sarah and Stan,
who became high school sweethearts.
They married on March 23, 1968, and
this year they celebrated their 45th an-
niversary!
Stan’s mother, Rose, had read the
Church of God’s material for years, so
Stan knew of the Church; but because
he didn’t like the prophetic understand-
ing, he refused to attend. Stan’s mother
always saw Sarah reading her Bible;
and one day in 1969 Rose gave her a
Plain Truth
magazine
,
and Sarah found
answers she was seeking. Sarah and
Rose began attending in 1970, and Stan
started in 1981 after Sarah told him she
was a “spiritual widow.” Defiantly, Stan
came to Church to prove she was no
widow, with his Kangol cap fashionably
tipped over to one side, arms crossed
and a skeptical smirk on his face. He
has attended ever since!
They had three children: little Stan,
Terence and Nicole. Tragically, Stan
Jr., died at 20, and Nicole at just four
months. They adopted Sarah’s niece,
Andrea Towe, after her parents died.
Their advice for a happy marriage is
“Keep God involved, and stay on your
knees!” They look forward to “reuniting
with [their] babies in the Kingdom.”
Sarah serves on the kitchen staff in
the Queens, New York, congregation,
and Stan serves on the sound crew and
plays saxophone and flute accompani-
ment during the song service. Happy
45th anniversary, Stan and Sarah!
